Dutch tax office is hunting for poker income

The Dutch government has come out in force against professional poker player Steven Van Zadelhoff. The tax office of Amsterdam has officially opened the hunt for poker income impounding the earnings of poker professional Steven Van Zadelhoff including several computers and also his own house. According to the Dutch piece, the tax office has been on the trail of others professional players. While the case is still ongoing Peter Plasman, the lawyer of Van Zadelhoff – who recently won a live tournament for €100,000 – comments: “We are negotiating with the tax office. My client has never suggested not wanting to pay his debts”. Anyway at the moment Van Zadelhoff has been flying to Malta: “He is leaving because he needs some relax without worrying about taxes”, as reported by the lawyer.

While in the opinion of his lawyer the impounding of Van Zadelhoff’ belonging is a little bit excessive, the tax office, which according to dutch newspaper De Telegraaf demands several hundred thousand euro’s in uncollected tax over poker earnings, is also demanding the access to the internet poker accounts of the dutch player, who followed other players’ steps like Marcel Luske and Peter Dalhuijsen in moving abroad. Nowadays Van Zadelhoff, who has a $408.647 career income, has had his hown house raided by dutch autorithies.
