Let’s keep learning the basics of Texas Hold’em Poker before getting into the game and start playing. After having introduced the vaule scale of single cards, poker game goes as follows.
Small and big blind
Playing poker begins with compulsory bets. Every player at the table act as a dealer in turnover. The dealer is marked by the button that moves clockwise at the end of each hand. The action starts from that position: the first player at the left of the dealer has to put in the pot an amount called small blind, the second one has to bet what is called the big blind. These two compulsory bets do have a pre-set value: the big one fix the lowest betting limit.
Pre-flop
After the two personal cards (hole o pocket cards) are dealt (the first rounder to receive the cards is the one who paid the big blind) it’s time to bet. The first to bet is the man in Under the Gun (UTG), the position at the left of big blind. After him the action keeps going clockwise. Each rounder has three possible actions: to fold (quit the hand), to call (accept a bet) or to raise (increase the last bet to a minim amount of big blind x2). In the lack of raising, the last player to act is the big blind, who can choose whether to raise or checking and go to the next stage. If he chooses to raise the action keeps going on again and every player still in action has to call or fold. If someone re-raises, the action goes on until everyone has called for it or folded.
The flop
It’s the show of the first three common cards to complete the hand. After that shown the action keeps going: the rounders have to choose between check (to go on with nothing to pay), bet, raise or fold. It’s possible to check only if nobody has bet, otherwise who checked before is forced to call for the bet.
The turn
The fourth common card. After its shown the action follows as after the flop.
The river
The Fifth and last common card. After its shown there’s another round of bets: if at its end there are still active players, then it’s time for the final stage of the hand.
