The chess champion Magnus Carlsen plays poker for fun

Little wizards of chess Magnus Carlsen, a Norwegian teenager (born in 1990) who has become Grand Master at the age of thirteen, declared during an interview for German newspaper Der Spiegel he’s an online poker enthusiast. Talking to the German journalist, the chess genius (he’s the third youngest Grand Master ever) revealed which are his interests outside chess: “I do not usually go out for a drink at night. I prefer to chat with friends or play poker online”.

Then the journalist asked him if he usually plays poker for money or not and Carlsen replied: “Of course I do play for money and generally when I take the game seriously I win. When not, I lose. But that doesn’t matter. What is important is that I have a life beyond chess” said the young chess champion illustrating his way of life. “Chess should not become an obsession”. So welcome into the world of poker fanatics Magnus!
