The World Championship of Online Poker

The 2010 World Championship of Online Poker is coming. Thousands of players will compete across 62 individual events in 21 days for millions of dollars in prize money starting on Sunday September 5th through September 26-27th. Since 2002 the Championship of Online Poker is the biggest and richest online poker tournament event ever staged. It’s the series where the best players in the world come together to do battle for millions of dollars and the title of World Champion.

This will be the ninth year of WCOOP and it is also likely to be the biggest, as that seems to be the trend. The organisers are predicting that the prize money this year will exceed the $52 million that was paid out in the 2009 championship. Last year the event attracted 2,144 players, which was a record, and the winner of the main event was Yevgeniy Timoshenko, who collected over $1.7 million.
